Brian Dunn resigns as Best Buy CEO; co. says was a mutually agreed upon decision

Justin Sullivan/GETTY IMAGES – The Best Buy logo is seen on display at a Best Buy store in San Francisco. According to reports March 19, Best Buy plans to shut down 50 of its large stores while testing new stores that are 20 percent smaller. On April 10, the company announced that its CEO has resigned.

MINNEAPOLIS — Best Buy Co. CEO Brian Dunn has resigned from the electronics retailer.

Best Buy says that it was a mutual decision, and that there were no disagreements with Dunn on any matter relating to operations, financial controls, policies or procedures. Best Buy’s sales have been stung by competition from online sellers like Amazon.com.

Board member Mike Mikan will serve as interim CEO while the company searches for a permanent replacement, Best Buy said Tuesday.
