Samsung Galaxy S III hits Canada on June 20 with 2GB of Ram

2GB of ram incoming? I sure hope this is the case for the U.S. version of the Samsung Galaxy S III as I noted in my HTC One X Review the ram seemed to be taking quite a hit in Android 4.0.3

America to get their hands on the new Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone, as the company has announced that it will be available from the major Canadian wireless carriers and retailers starting on June 20. While many of the specs of the global edition will carry over to the Canadian edition, the quad-core Samsung Exynos 4 Quad processor inside has been swapped for a dual-core Qualcomm S4 unit clocked at 1.5GHz.

The change in processor is most certainly due to the fact that the Canadian version supports 4G LTE or HSPA+ 42 (depending on carrier) networks, while the global model does not. We can expect to see the same Qualcomm S4 chip in the U.S. versions of the phone when they get announced in the near future, as well. The Canadian version also features a whopping 2GB of RAM, though it is not yet clear if the U.S. version will include that as well.

Apart from the processor and bump in RAM, everything else in the Canadian Galaxy S III is the same as the global model, including the 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 8 megapixel camera, and plastic body. The Galaxy S III runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Samsung’s custom user interface and includes a host of new software features that are debuting with the new phone.

Samsung says that versions of the Galaxy S III will be available from Bell Mobility, Virgin Mobile, SaskTel, TELUS, Rogers, Videotron, Wind, and Mobilicity. Pricing is expected to be announced by each carrier as the June 20 date of availability gets closer.
